Sarah Ryan (pictured 2nd from the left):

To be a doula means to be more than a supportive hand; to be a doula means to be a calming voice, a source of rich information, and a root to a woman’s empowerment.

I’m Sarah Ryan and I found my calling as a doula through my own experiences as a mother. I always knew my purpose on this earth was to serve, but it wasn’t until the birth of my 2-year-old son, Austin, that I realized it was to serve women during their most vulnerable yet empowering chapter of their lives. Since beginning my journey as a doula I have grown more aware of the need to hold a mother’s space in the labor room.

As a trained birth and postpartum doula my goal is to guide you in making informed decisions and support you in creating a sacred space for your baby to be welcomed into this world. I also aim to provide that same support to the mother and her partner as they settle into their home with their newborn baby.

Aside from being a doula I like to tell people I’m an accidental farmer. My husband, Curtiss, and I moved our little family down to Covington, TX to live the country life. I enjoy spending my days tending to the fields, fishing in our pond, and watching the wildflowers bloom.

Amber Gates (pictured 3rd from the left):

Hello! My name is Amber Gates and I’m a mom to two children, Carter and Madilyn, who keep me on my toes pretty much 24-7. I have been married to my husband, Duncan for 10 years. Although I have a Master’s Degree in Teaching, I felt led down the path to become a Doula after my own birth experiences, a cesarean and a successful VBAC.

I have personal experience with pre-mature birth, cesarean section, VBAC and breastfeeding which gives me a unique ability and perspective to provide informed support. After my first birth, I realized just how much our country lacks in the way of prenatal and postpartum support. Women need to know their options and have access to not just physical and emotional support but evidence based information as well.

I want you to LOVE your birth and I want your birth experience to be something that you look back and reflect upon in a positive way! As your Doula, I will support you, listen to you, empower you and respect you in a non-judgmental way. I support ALL births, no matter the choices you make. Your body is not a lemon, so together let’s give birth a chance!
